Prototype Custom Android and Heads Up Display Controller
This project started as the need to integrate multiple devices into one and make them work with the ambient illumination system as well. The devices that needed to be integrated into one were: wireless keyboard/optical mouse combo, BLE based heads up display rotary knob controller, LED modules, ambient brightness sensor. The mounting location and solution proved most difficult. Integration was achieved by adapting part of a OEM piece and molding it to the new controller. Custom paint was necessary to match the car interior color. Various aluminum trim pieces were adapted to match the new controller configuration. Audi dials and Mercedes buttons were used for final trim. WS2812B LEDs were used to integrate with the ambient illumination project.
A palm rest to make use more comfortable was also built. The palm rest was made from an existing Mercedes piece that was cut to size. It was wrapped in matching OEM leather on top and Alcantara on the back.
